Do you keep a key to my storage unit?

No — yours is the only key, so keep it in a safe place and remember where you put it.

 

Will I need to purchase a lock?
When is my rent due?
Your rent is due on the same date each month, which is the date that your lease begins. For example, if you begin renting on the 8th of the month, your rent will be due on the 8th of each month thereafter. We offer a 6-day grace period, after which a late fee will be applied.
Can I rent my storage space by the month?

Yes — our rental contracts are month-to-month agreements. You don’t need to sign a long-term lease.

Can I get a refund if I move out in the middle of the month?

Sorry, but there are no refunds for partial months of occupancy. Please pay only for the time you intend to stay. We do allow our customers to make prorated payments for their last month’s rent, instead of paying for a full month and requesting a partial refund.

How much notice do you require before I move out?

We ask for 10-days’ advance notice prior to moving out.

When can I access my storage unit?
Your electronic access code provides you access into the facility and the elevator to the floor your unit is on between 5 a.m. and 11 p.m. every day of the year.

Can anyone else have access to my storage unit?

Yes, anyone who you give your key and access code can access the unit. However, our staff can only provide the code and/or details about the account to you.

 

What’s the difference between access hours and office hours?
What if I lose my gate code or the key to my storage unit?
Call our manager during regular business hours (9:30 M-F, 9:00 on Sat and 10:00 on Sunday), and they’ll gladly help you. We can remove your lock and provide a new one for a small fee.
Will I need to insure the things I put into my storage unit?
Yes — you are responsible for the things you store at Ballinger Heated Storage and we require that you have insurance. We offer several insurance options starting at only $9 per month or you can provide your own proof of insurance — you may be covered under your homeowner’s or renter’s policy. Check with your insurance agent to verify this.

What kind of documentation will I need to rent a storage unit?
You must provide a valid government-issued form of photo identification, such as a driver’s license, state ID or passport.

Do you have dollies I can use to help move in and out?
Yes —we have a large number of (maintain an inventory of) “push carts” that may be used free-of-charge.
How do I pay my monthly rent?

We offer four convenient ways to pay:

  1. Choose “AutoPay” to have your card automatically charged each month.
  2. Pay online at BallingerHeatedStorage.com. Your Unit number is your Username and your access code is your password.
  3. Pay by mail. Mail your monthly payment to Ballinger Heated Storage. Please include your storage unit number on your check or money order and make sure it is mailed in time to arrive before the due date.
  4. Pay in person. You are welcome to pay your rent onsite, using cash, check or credit card.
  5. Pay over the phone. Just call in during office hours and our staff can process your credit card payment over the phone.
How can I best utilize space in a self-storage unit?
Don’t get a small unit and try to cram everything inside. You can end up damaging your belongings this way, especially when it comes to loading or unloading. This can cost you more money in the long run. As you set up your storage space, put things you won’t need for a while in the back. Try to store things upright, if possible. Avoid stacking things too high; items sometimes shift in storage. Put heavy and valuable items in bins on the bottom of stacks. If you’re putting bookcases into storage, you can use the shelves as additional storage space.

Can I buy boxes and other packing products a Ballinger Heated Storage?

Yes — we offer a wide array of boxes and packing supplies that are available for purchase. Ask for our list of packing and storage tips that we’ve compiled to help you prepare to store your valuables.

Can I change to a different size UNIT after I’ve already moved in?

If the unit size you want is available at your facility, then yes — you can transfer into another available unit at any time. Your facility manager will be able to assist you in that transition.
